CO G08 – FOSSIL RIDGE. Terrain & Access Fossil Ridge spans 204,000 acres across high alpine terrain, ranging from 7,685 to 13,255 feet. Nearly all land is publicly owned (95%), offering excellent access for serious mountain goat hunters. The unit includes 16% designated wilderness, which adds rugged, remote high country but remains accessible for committed hunters willing to navigate steep alpine terrain. This is genuine high-elevation goat habitat—steep rocky peaks, exposed ridges, and alpine basins where mountain goats thrive.
