Terrain & Access ID 17 spans nearly 1 million acres of remote, high-elevation terrain—virtually all public land at 100%—with elevations ranging from 1,716 to over 9,300 feet. The unit is defined by its extreme wilderness character: 96% of the land is designated wilderness, making it one of Idaho's most primitive and unroaded hunting areas. This is genuine backcountry requiring self-sufficiency in navigation, route-finding, and wilderness camping. Access is severely restricted.
