NM 52 — Tactical Analysis. Terrain & Access NM 52 spans 7,977–11,066 ft elevation across 269,000 acres of high-country terrain. Nearly 95% public land provides genuine access freedom for self-guided hunters. The unit straddles both low-elevation sagebrush country and alpine meadows; expect mixed-conifer forest and timbered ridges in the transition zone. Road access exists to trailheads and lower staging areas, but reaching prime habitat often requires 1–2 miles of foot travel before first light.
