WY 9 – Dinwoody: Tactical Analysis. Terrain & Access WY 9 spans 161,604 acres across steep, high-elevation terrain between 6,423 and 13,788 feet. With 95% public land and 90% wilderness designation, virtually all huntable country is federally protected. Nonresidents must hire a licensed Wyoming outfitter or guide to legally hunt wilderness areas — this unit is guide-mandatory for out-of-state hunters. The extreme wilderness percentage and alpine elevation make self-guided access impractical regardless of regulations.
