WY 16 – Alta. Terrain & Access Unit 16 spans 125,204 acres across 6,256–11,116 feet of elevation in the Teton region. Nearly 94% is public land—exceptional access for hunters. However, 56% of the unit is designated wilderness, which creates a critical constraint: nonresidents must hire a licensed Wyoming outfitter or guide to hunt any wilderness area. This requirement applies to all game species and is state law. Residents are exempt and may hunt wilderness without a guide.
