CO 55 — Terrain & Access CO 55 spans 567,178 acres across high-elevation terrain, ranging from 7,684 to 14,088 feet. Nearly all land is publicly accessible (98.3%), with 19% designated wilderness. This combination provides exceptional backcountry opportunity for self-sufficient hunters willing to cover elevation and distance. The steep, high-alpine character demands physical fitness and route-finding skill, particularly in the wilderness core.
