CO 63 — Tactical Analysis. Terrain & Access Unit 63 spans rugged high-country terrain from 5,000 to nearly 12,000 feet across 236,200 acres in the West Elk and Maroon ranges. With 59% public land, the unit offers solid access to mixed aspen, conifer, and alpine habitat. Lower elevations support mule deer summer range; higher basins and ridges hold animals through fall. Road access is typical for Colorado—some trailhead access, but much of the productive alpine and sub-alpine country requires foot travel into mid-elevation basins.
