NM 18 Tactical Analysis. Terrain & Access NM 18 spans 1.56 million acres across a wide elevation band (4,546–7,407 ft), offering mixed terrain from lower-country prairie to mid-elevation mixed woodland. Seventy percent public land provides solid access foundation for self-reliant hunters, though topography and vegetation vary significantly with elevation. Lower elevations support pronghorn habitat; higher elevations transition to elk and mule deer country.
