OR HOOD – Hood. Terrain & Access Hood spans 240,781 acres across dramatic elevation—from 77 feet in lower valleys to over 11,000 feet on alpine peaks. This is high-elevation Cascade terrain with significant vertical relief and mixed forest habitat. Seventy percent of the unit sits on public land, offering solid access for independent hunters; the remaining private ground concentrates in valley bottoms. One-third of the unit is designated wilderness, which substantially constrains foot traffic and requires hunters to commit to backcountry effort or hire an outfitter.
