WY 65 – South Pass. Terrain & Access South Pass spans 554,000 acres across high-elevation sagebrush and mixed terrain, ranging from 5,300 to over 13,000 feet. Nearly all land is public (95%), primarily administered by the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service. The unit's 18% wilderness area includes portions of the Wind River Range; nonresidents hunting in these designated areas must hire a licensed Wyoming outfitter or guide.
