WY 3 — Wapiti Ridge. Terrain & Access Wapiti Ridge spans 456,000 acres across high mountain terrain, with elevations ranging from 4,800 to over 12,100 feet. Nearly all land (93%) is public, primarily national forest. However, 65% of the unit falls within designated wilderness—a critical constraint for nonresident hunters. Wyoming law requires all nonresidents hunting in wilderness areas to hire a licensed outfitter/guide; self-guided nonresident hunting is not an option here. Residents may hunt unguided.
