WY 11 – North Fork: Tactical Analysis. Terrain & Access North Fork spans 1.7 million acres across dramatic elevation—from 4,000 feet in lower country to over 12,000 feet in alpine terrain. Eighty-five percent is public land, offering substantial opportunity for self-reliant hunters. However, 44% wilderness designation carries a critical constraint: nonresidents must hire a licensed Wyoming outfitter or guide to hunt the wilderness portions.
